The story behind: Kombi or Microbus, or, informally, as the Bus (US) or Camper (UK), is a panel van introduced in 1950 by the German automaker Volkswagen as its second car model. This van has received numerous nicknames worldwide, including the "microbus", "minibus", and, because of its popularity during the counterculture movement of the 1960s, "Hippie van".

In Latin American countries the Kombi its been proven success through the years. Here are the 2 most successful stories so far showcasing loyalty and continuity.In Mexico T2 production began in 1970 at the Puebla assembly factory.In 1994, production ended in Mexico, with models being imported from Brazil. The Caravelle was discontinued, and both the Combi and the Panel were only offered in white color and finally in 2002. 

While in Brazil the Volkswagen Type T2 is by far the longest model run in Brazil, having been introduced in September 1950 as the Volkswagen "Kombi", a name it has kept throughout production. The production of the Brazilian Volkswagen Kombi ends in 2013 with a production run of 600 Last Edition vehicles, it will be the final production rear-engined Volkswagen after 78 years.

The looks: About the HotWheels Kombi  , it is based in the designed started in 1950 with the addition lift up rooftoop which came up around the 94 which was an update to the original model. Also with it it comes a spoiler which as its name implies it makes it look "kool". The body is made of die cast which is very solid and the interior is very detailed featuring the steering wheel along with the panel. At its back and below the spoiler are 2 surfing boards. 

While it might not be appealing to younger generations who never lived through the production era of the Kombi, this model is a solid addition. For older aficionados, it evokes sweet memories of peace, love and rock and roll!

The story behind: Relatively new, Arrow Dynamic is a powerful looking F1 racing car. The whole design is so sharp and clean that it is one of the best Hot Wheels models in recent years.

Aerodynamic and beyond

The looks: As I stated previously Arrow Dynamic resembles a futuristic F1 car, considering that this year F1 released new car models and well, they haven't been very well received (press states that this models looks like an ant eater.) Hot Wheels might be doing the models from now on. This model is definitively a track star! With its low gravity point and its compromised materials it is perfect for Wall Tracks for example.

As far as I am concerned this might come a fan favorite in times to come.

F22 Raptor on wheels

The story behind: This new model introduced in 2013 it resembles a fighter aircraft on wheels. Actually to be accurate it looks like an F-22 Raptor fighter. Depending on which color you get is the cooler it looks. Would this fighter lives up to its expectation?

The looks: As I said, for this model the color is a very important feature, if you get the gray colored one for sure you will have an almost replica of the fighter I mentioned before. If you get the other one, well it just looks like a weird hot wheel. Whatever the case the model is very light given the lower body ratio. The body is diecast and the chassis is plastic. Track wise it is a very good model for loops and turns. With two burners in the back of the car , folded wings and a wide cockpit, this car is ready for the clouds and beyond!

The story behind: Drift rod is a 2013 new model from the Drift race segment. It resembles a heavily-modified Fast Fish. In a muscle car fashion the Drift Rod tries to impress but fails miserably in this department.

The looks: I really dont have much to say about this model, albeit I appreciate the detail put in the model for me its just looks generic. The body is plastic and while it features side mirrors and a spoiler it just dont work for me. It looks like a muscle car in steroids. Lastly the colors are just horrible! Green and silver CMON! With all this complains it is very difficult for me to recommend something about this particular model, I just wish there was more into it than only being branded as "New Model".

Thats a lot of POWER!

The story behind: This one is basically a speedy bulldozer. It brings the power of a dozer and the speed and potency of a 12 engine car.

The looks: This is a solid new model , featuring a speedy cartoonish bulldozer, of course being hot wheels they don't take the model real serious so they went as far as putting a 12 engine just to showcase the muscle, push and power of this one. I like the idea of it but it doesn't really mash well with my other construction vehicles made by the more accurate Matchbox.
